Use

You can use this transaction to automatically send process messages in certain time intervals or after a specific manufacturing event has occurred. In this way, you can make sure, for example, that process messages on an event are created even if the relevant PI sheet is not being maintained.

You create a variant for every process message category in the transaction.

Prerequisites

OPC Subscriptions

To use events from the services OPC Alarms/Events subscription (OAE) and OPC Data Access subscription (ODA), you must have defined these subscriptions in Customizing.
To do so, go to Customizing for Process Management and choose SAP ODA (OPC Data Access).

For more information about SAP ODA, see Structure linkSAP OPC Data Access.

Procedure

  1. On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Logistics ® Production - Process ® Process Management ® Message ® Create Automatically.
  2. On the Plant dialog box, enter the plant in which you want to create process messages automatically and choose Continue.
The overview screen showing all existing variants for the plant you entered appears.
  3. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying textCreate Variant and enter the following data:

When you enter the message category, the system displays the message characteristics for this message category.

  1. Enter a value assignment type for every characteristic and assign values to the characteristics according to the value assignment type.
You must assign values to all characteristics that are marked as Required in the message category. Otherwise, the system cannot create the message.
  2. If you choose Data Point as the value assignment type, you must assign the address of a data point to the message characteristic.
    For more information, see
    Manufacturing Data Points.

  3. Save.
Go back to the overview screen.
  1. To start a variant, select the relevant variant and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying textStart.

Variants with status Start not Allowed cannot be started. After you start the variant, the system informs you about whether the variant could be started in the status bar.

  1. To stop a variant, select the relevant variant and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying textStop.
  1. To check whether the process message contained in the variant has really been created, select the relevant variant on the overview screen and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying textLog.

The Log Display dialog box appears. The variants with their start times are listed in the upper screen area. By double-clicking the individual start times, more information and error messages are displayed in the lower section of the dialog box.

  1. To delete logs, select the relevant variant on the overview screen and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying textLog.

Result

By starting a variant, you release the messages created for it for sending. This normally means that the message is sent automatically and can therefore no longer be changed.
