Changing Proficiencies
Use
You can change the proficiency of a qualification or requirement on a specific key date. If, for example, a person has acquired better qualifications through attending a training course, you can follow this procedure to enter this information in the system. When you change the proficiency of an existing qualification, the original proficiency is not deleted, but merely delimited as of the key date in question. This means that you can track the person’s development, and evaluate it as required.
You can specify a key date in the past, present, or future (see
Evaluation Period and Change Key Date). This enables you to map scenarios like the one presented in the example below.
The requirements of a position currently stipulate (January 1) that the holder of the position must have English language skills with the proficiency Fluent. However, due to restructuring measures which will be implemented in 6 months’ time, the holder will be expected to have English language skills with the proficiency Able to negotiate. You can enter this information in advance by setting the evaluation period to the date in question (in this case, July 1), and then changing the proficiency of the qualification English language skills. This will mean that any evaluations run for the key date or later (profile matchups, for example, or succession planning scenarios, etc.) will take the new requirements into account.
Procedure
The Change Profile screen appears.
Result
You have changed the proficiency as of the date selected. The old proficiency was delimited.
