Entering content frameProcedure documentation Creating an Access Node Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Prerequisites

You have maintained a product class hierarchy.

Procedure

  1. Choose Logistics ® Production ® Master Data ® Integrated Product and Process Engineering.

You are in the iPPE workbench.

  1. To switch to change mode, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
  1. In the loading area, enter the following data:

Application

Product Structure

Type

Access Node

iPPE Object

Name for the object (language-independent)

Class

Class for configurable materials

Class Type

300

  1. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

The system displays the header data for the node in the detail area and you can now make entries on the tab pages for the access node.

You require an access variant for each configurable material that the product structure can represent. These variants with the configurable materials are used to access the production version and the configuration simulation.

This is where you can store DMU documents manually for your configurable materials.

Enter the structure nodes or view nodes that form the product structure for the materials/products.

Create alternatives when the explosion of the structure for your material/product differs between works or usages, for example.

iPPE nodes can be classified in classes of class type 053. This enables you to put nodes into certain categories, which you can use when evaluating, searching for, and sorting nodes.

Caution

Classifying the variants does not configure materials/products and is completely independent from the node’s assignment to a product class of class type 300.

Enter links to documents that refer to the access node, such as specification documents.

You can enter language-dependent names for your access node.

Enter the variants for the configurable materials and state which alternative explosion is effective in which location for which usage. This information is used in the production version and for simulating the configuration.

For more information, see Creating/Changing Accesses.

  1. To save the node, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
