Use

After you have installed a CCMS Agent, the data transferred by the CCMS agent is available in the central monitoring system. The monitoring contexts appear in different places in the central monitoring system, depending on the agent (see: Monitoring Contexts for CCMS Agents in the Monitoring System).

You can also easily create rule-based monitors for the data transferred by the agent. You can then access these monitors more quickly and more simply in the monitoring hierarchy.

Note

If you are using the SAPCCM4X agent, there is little point in creating your own monitor to display the data collected by the agent. Installating this agent does not change the existing monitoring contexts. The agent simply provides a method of collecting data that is less costly for system performance (see : Activating the Agents’ Push Technology) and more reliable.

Procedure

For detailed instructions, see the procedure Structure linkCreating and Changing Monitors. For details about rules and strategies for creating rule-based monitors, see: Structure linkRule Nodes: Rule Description and Use.

SAPCM3X: Creating a Rule-Based Monitor

  1. Choose CCMS ® Control/Monitoring ® Alert Monitor in the SAP Easy Access menu, or call transaction RZ20. Activate the maintenance function.
  2. Choose Monitor (set) ® Create, and specify that you want to create a new monitor in an existing set.
  3. If you want to create a rule-based selection, place the cursor on the New Monitor line or on a virtual node. Choose Edit ® Create Node. On the Rule Nodes screen, choose the following rule using the F4 help:

CCMS_GET_MONITORING_SEGMENT_NAMES

  1. On the Edit Rule Nodes screen, specify the following selection parameters:
  1. Repeat the procedure from point 3, but this time choose the following rule on the Rule Nodes screen:

CCMS_GET_MONITORING_CONTEXT_NAMES

On the Edit Rule Nodes screen, specify the following selection parameters:

  1. To save your new monitor, choose Save or Generate Monitor. The system prompts you to enter a name for your monitor. The monitor is then automatically saved. The new monitor is now part of your monitor set; you can use it in the same way as any other monitor.

SAPCCMSR: Creating a Rule-Based Monitor

  2. Choose Monitor (set) ® Create, and specify that you want to create a new monitor in an existing set.
  3. If you want to create a rule-based selection, place the cursor on the New Monitor line or on a virtual node. Choose Edit ® Create Node. On the Edit Rule Nodes screen, choose the following rule using the F4 help:

Note

You do not need to create your own monitors for any of the CCMS agents to display Structure linkoperating system monitor data, as this data appears immediately in transactions ST06 and OS07, and in the Operating System monitor of the Alert Monitor (transaction RZ20), without you having to make any additional settings.
