Master Data and Customizing for Quantity Optimizing
Use
You can enter information in Customizing and in purchasing and sales master data to control the optimizing function.
Prerequisites
If you want to influence the optimization process using rounding profiles, you have to enter a rounding profile in Customizing for Logistics – General under Quantity Optimizing. The rounding profiles are assigned to articles in master data maintenance. A distinction is made between:
In this case, all the data required for the rounding (that is, the threshold values and the quantities to be added or subtracted in percent) is defined in the rounding profile. For further information, see
In this case, all the data required for the rounding (that is, the threshold and rounding values) is defined in the rounding profile. For further information, see:
In this case, only some of the data required for the rounding (in particular, the rounding rule to be used) is defined in the rounding profile. The following settings are also necessary:
The rounding rule determines the threshold values at which the system should round a quantity up or down. It also determines the unit of measure used.
Unit of measure groups are assigned to articles in the master data. They determine the units of measure allowed for dynamic rounding.

Features
Purchasing
Rounding information is maintained in article master records or in purchasing information records.
Data is always maintained on an article, purchasing organization and vendor basis. The information is valid at the purchasing organization level for all sites or for one site only if different data exists for the site.
You can define the following data:
Sales
Data is always maintained on an article, sales organization and distribution channel basis. It can be made customer-specific through the creation of customer-article information.
You have the following control options:
You can deactivate rounding at customer level for each distribution chain by deselecting an indicator.
In Customizing for sales documents, you use an indicator for each item category to switch the rounding function on or off.
The delivery unit comprises an increment and a unit of measure. If you define an increment, the system rounds off the delivery quantity so that it can be divided into whole numbers by the increment.
You only have to enter a unit of measure for the increment if the unit of measure is not the base unit of measure. Otherwise, the increment refers to the base unit of measure.
