Use

Article hierarchy maintenance enables you to group your articles in user-defined hierarchies in such a way that they are oriented around the customer and the customer’s needs.

Article hierarchy maintenance supports, in particular, the definition of a category hierarchy that is used in Category Management.

Article hierarchy maintenance is possible with the following transactions:

Prerequisites

The same prerequisites that are described in Article Hierarchy apply to the use of article hierarchy maintenance.

Procedure

  1. You create an article hierarchy using transaction MATGRP01. You have the option of using an existing article hierarchy as a template.

  1. Maintenance of the hierarchy tree

After you have created the article hierarchy you enter the actual maintenance of the article hierarchy with transaction MATGRP02.

First assign nodes to an article hierarchy and then assign articles to the nodes. Using the input help you can assign strategies to the nodes and the articles. You can maintain language-dependent descriptions for the nodes.

  1. Activating a planned article hierarchy

After planning for the hierarchy is closed, you activate the hierarchy with transaction MATGRP05.

You have two options for changing active hierarchies:

  1. Reassigning nodes and articles of an article hierarchy

You have the option to reassign a node from an article hierarchy in place of another node in the hierarchy. You can also assign articles in a node to another node in the hierarchy.
