EnjoySAP - Enterprise Organization As part of the Enjoy project, the enterprise organization was developed

As part of the Enjoy project, the enterprise organization was developed to provide a single interface for maintaining the different organizational units in the SAP system.

In the SAP System, the structure of an enterprise is represented by means of different organizational units (controlling area, company code, cost center and so on).
In the Human Resources (HR) organizational plan for example, an enterprise is broken down into departments, each of which is responsible for performing particular tasks.
In the standard hierarchy for Cost Center Accounting (CCA), however, an organization is broken down into cost centers according to controlling perspectives such as areas of cost responsibility for costs.

In the SAP System the organizational structure of an enterprise needs to be structured so that:

You can adapt it at any time to match organizational changes within your enterprise.

You can execute the various business processes economically.

The internal and external reporting requirements are met.

Enterprise organization originated in the HR organizational plan and was modified to include accounting-specific functions and organizational units.

For Release 4.6A, the following areas were integrated into the enterprise organization:

HR organizational plan

Standard hierarchy for cost centers

Standard hierarchy for profit centers

The enterprise organization thus provides an overview of the enterprise in terms of responsibilites for:

Personnel

Costs

Revenues

Scope of Functions

Time-dependency

You can change the enterprise organization per specific day, enabling you to display past, present, and future organisational structures.

This facility is not however used in all of the SAP R/3 applications linked to the enterprise organization, meaning that you can specify the time for each application when the changes made to each structure are to come into effect.

Example

You make organizational changes in the enterprise organization for the coming fiscal year.

You specify that these changes are only to be transferred to the standard hierarchy for cost centers on the first day of the new fiscal year.

You can generate the standard hierarchy for cost centers or profit centers on a certain date in the enterprise organization.
In Customizing, you can also specify a fiscal year interval, in which the system ensures completeness of the standard hierarchy.
In this case, this means that all of the cost centers or profit centers that are fully or partially valid are contained in the standard hierarchy.

Consistency checks

During processing of the enterprise organization, the system makes various consistency checks.
For example, you can insert a cost center into the enterprise organization only once a controlling area has been assigned to the enterprise organization.

Inheritance

The organization units of the enterprise organization are inheritance- based.

This means that if an organization unit (such as, a company code) is assigned to a higher-level node, all of the objects beneath must be assigned to this organization unit.

You need to assign cost centers one, two and three to company code B, as they are underneath this node.

Data model

The structure of an enterprize is more detailed for HR purposes than for CO.
Therefore, the enterprise organization is logically created from the HR stucture organization.
All remaining objects (controlling area or cost center for example) are assigned to the HR organizational unit. Only one object from a category can be assigned to one HR organizational unit.

Maintenance interface

The single interface for maintenance of more than one organizational unit or organization structure makes maintenance easier and enables you to display and evaluate links between organizational units.

The new maintenance interface provides the following functions:

The system displays each organization structure in a tree structure.

You can use drag-and-drop to move organization units in the structure tree.

You can display additional columns in each structure tree according to your requirements.

This means that you can add all the data available in the master data as extra columns.

From the structure tree, you can maintain the master data for each object directly.

There are flexible search functions that enable you to navigate quickly within the enterprise organization.

The data for each structure maintenance is displayed each time you go into the initial screen of the maintenance user interface.

Future developments

Development of the enterprise organization concept is to continue as follows:

Currently, the master data for controlling area, company code, and profit center can only be displayed from the structure tree.

Master data maintenance is to be made possible.

Concurrent mass change of master data should be made possible within the enterprise organization.

Effects on Data Transfer

If you activate the enterprise organization, you can generate the standard hierarchy from there.
In this case, you should not use the BAPI for importing a standard hierarchy.

You can make the settings required for using the enterprise organization in Customizing for Cost Center Accounting or Profit Center Accounting, in the section on Enter Settings for Enterprise Organization (cost centers) or Enter Settings for Enterprise Organization(profit centers).
