From this release, the R/3 System offers Easy Cost Planning, a quantity- and characteristic-based cost planning tool at WBS level. It is clear, simple, and fast, and makes further processing of data a lot easier
Overview of the Function
With the new function, you can create a quantity structure for the cost calculation from the project structure. The system uses the planned pricess and rates stored in the system to value your entries, then distributes the costs per the basic dates for the relevant WBS elements.
As the project progresses, you can use the data so entered in a range of later processes, such as purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and material reservations. This removes the need to enter data more than once, thereby reducing the risk of errors.
Function in Detail:
You access the function using the Project Builder.
The WBS forms the basis of the costing hierarchy you cost to plan and calculate cost. You can extend the costing hierarchy as you want, without having to add to add to the project structure. This gives you a good overview of your cost planning at project level.
You can enter the data for the costing in planning temples you have already defined. You use these "costing models" to depict typical business processes, whose costs are always composed of similar items. You enter data typical of the business process in the modelse ab; this data is known as "characteristics" (such as days required or number of documents to be created). The system automatically uses the selected characteristics to generate costing items for R/3 unit costing; these are also displayed and you can process them further as required.
The planned costs are distributed along the time axis in accordance with the basic dates in the WBS elements. The link between the planned costs and planned dates means that the cost distribution is adapted automatically if the dates change.
You can use Easy Cost Planniing to run the cost calculation in simulation version.
You can use the quantity structure entered in teh costing to trigger the following activities, which are known as Execution Services.
.
The system as deliverd updates planned values generated using Easy Cost Planning to CO version 0. If you want, you can define a different CO version for this purpose in Project System customizing.
You use the execution profile to stipulat which execution servies (see above) are open to users. You assign the execution profile to the respective profiles. The system checks your authorization when you try to access an execution service.
