Easy Cost Planning and Execution Services

Use

By using the Easy Cost Planning costing method any planner can determine the costs of the object planned. Unlike previous costing methods, no knowledge of the SAP system is required. This is achieved by translating the elements of the object planned into costing items of unit costing. This requires you to create costing models that can be repeatedly used as a planning form by all planners. For cost planning, planners need only enter values for characteristics reflecting their view of the costs, and which it is sometimes even possible to predefine.

The Execution Services give you the option, based upon the costing data, of triggering particular follow-up planning processes assigned by yourself.

You can use the new costing method for internal orders, WBS elements, appropriation requests, internal service requests and ad hoc cost estimates. The Execution Services are available for internal orders, WBS elements and internal order requests.

Effects on Existing Data

You can use the new costing methods to determine the costs of existing planning objects (for example WBS elements) if you have not yet done so.

If you want to use existing costing variants for internal orders or WBS elements, then you still have to define a date control for these variants. However, if you only want to continue using these costing variants for unit costing then you do not need to make this additional setting.

Effects on System Administration

The entry screens are stored using the Business Document Service. For additional information see the SAP library under Basis -> Basis Services/Communications Interfaces (BC-SRV) -> Business Document Service.

Effects on Customizing

SAP recommends you to create a new costing variant for Easy Cost Planning. It is most important that you are able to distinguish this from existing cost estimates in the system which were created using other costing methods.

If you want to display the costs in the form of a cost component split then you must define cost component groups for the cost component structure.

When you do so you should check whether the assignment of the cost component structure in Customizing corresponds to your requirements of the cost component split. If this is not the case create a new cost component structure with cost component groups and assign it to your costing variant for Easy Cost Planning.

In both the project system and for internal orders the setting Cost Elements for Unit Costing on the tab Miscellaneous for the costing variant is ignored and overridden by the setting Required.
