Changes to Area Menus and Report Trees

Scope of Functions

The area menus and report trees have been replaced by a tree structure. This makes it easier to navigate through the menu and select menu points as the entire menu and submenu structure remains visible and does not need to be re-expanded the next time it is called. This is an improvement over the previous pulldown menus.

The toolbars and quick access codes included in the previous area menus are no longer supported. The new area menus can no longer be accessed using transaction codes.

With the changes to the area menus, the previous restrictions on the text length of menu entries or the nesting depth of menus have been changed. Menu entries can now be up to 75 characters long and menus can be nested to any depth.

The area menus in the new structure include not only the previous area menus but the contents of the report trees as well. At the places where report trees were called previously (usually "Information System"), the system displays the corresponding report tree as a substructure of the menu.

Converting customer-specific area menus

Customer-specific area menus are automatically converted to the new menu structure using the conversion report XPRA. Area menus contained in other area menus as transactions are added to the new menus as references.

Customer enhancements in SAP menus

Customer enhancements activated for area menus delivered by SAP are automatically displayed in the new menus.

Integration of report trees

To integrate your own report trees, these must also be converted into area menus. For more information, see Migration of report trees
