Proposal Pool Administration: Transfer

Purpose

It may be necessary to export and import proposal pools between different R/3 systems, for example, in cases where an industry solution (which up till now was translated in its own system) moves into the standard. It is also useful to export a proposal pool for backup purposes, when a translation environment moves from one R/3 system to another.

Prerequisites

You first need to create a directory on a server to which/from which you wish to export/import the proposal pool. When you export a proposal pool to a file, the translation memory is written to this file in compressed form and is generally between 40MB and 100MB large, depending on the volume of the proposal pool.

Process Flow

You can make various settings to influence the way in which the proposal pool is exported from one system to a file, and imported from a file to another system.
