Use
It may be useful to export a proposal pool to a file for backup purposes. It is also possible to save the file and ship it to customers as a CD, for instance, when a proposal pool moves from one R/3 system to another.
Procedure
If you choose this export mode, all existing entries in the proposal pool will be exported to the file you specify.
If you choose this export mode, only proposals created since a specific date will be exported. You need to enter this date in the field that appears next to the Export mode field.
If you choose this export mode, only entries flagged for automatic distribution will be exported. This export mode is useful for making a backup of all proposals flagged for automatic distribution, or for calculating the number of flagged proposals.
If you choose this export mode, only entries in the proposal pool with usage counter 0 will be exported. This export mode is useful for making a backup of all proposals that are not currently used as translations in the system (for example, if you plan to delete them), or for calculating the number of unused proposals.
If you choose this export mode, all source texts in the proposal pool will be exported. This export mode is useful for making a backup of all source texts, for indexing purposes, for example.
If you plan to import the proposal pool you are currently exporting to a proposal pool in another system, this option enables you to decide on which proposal is used in cases of conflict. The system uses the where-used list as the basis for deciding which proposal 'wins'. The proposal that has the highest usage counter will become the proposal in the target system. The where-used list data must exist in both systems to enable the compare. This means you need to select the option Write where-used list data when you run the evaluation in transaction SLWB.
If you choose this option, an export does not take place. Instead the volume (for example, the number of unused entries, the number of entries flagged for automatic distribution) is calculated.
If you are exporting the proposal pool to a system with a lower release level (for example 3.1H), you are advised to enter the release level of the target system in this field. Doing so ensures that certain flags are set so that the target system can cope with the increased functionality from the source system. Either choose 3.1H to 4.0B or 4.5A or higher in this field.
Enter the name of the directory to which you wish to export the proposal pool.
Enter the name of the file to which you want the proposal pool to be written in the field.
The system displays the dialog box Start Time, which offers you further selection options.
You can also schedule the run to start after a particular job or an event, by choosing After job or After event.
At operation mode refers to daytime or nighttime operation.
The system displays a dialog box in which you can enter a printer name.
The system displays a dialog box in which you can enter a background server on which you want the export to run.
The system asks you if you want to schedule the job. Choose Yes.
Result
The contents of the proposal pool are exported. You can view the status of the export run by choosing Run administration.
After you have executed the report, you can also view a log of the results of the export from the spool. For more information, see
Export/Import Log.
