If an ORACLE database is operated from raw devices, it is possible to use the Parallel Server option of the ORACLE-RDBMS. The SAP utilities for backing up the database support this configuration. In the following sections, the special features of the SAP utilities for backing up when using the Parallel Server option are explained.
