Editing Function Calls in the PI Assistant

Prerequisites

You have created the dynamic function call in the master recipe and called the process instruction assistant (PI assistant); see Editing Process Instructions in the PI Assistant.

If you can only define some of the data of a dynamic function call, such as the value of a parameter, when you are in the process order, you can leave the relevant field blank in the master recipe.

Procedure

  1. Check and, if necessary, correct the name of the function module you want to call in the PI sheet.
  2. If you want, you can display the function module.
    Choose Fct.module.

  3. Enter the text to be displayed on the pushbutton for the function module in the PI sheet.
  4. If you do not enter a text, the system uses the short text of the function module.

  5. If it should be possible to call the function not only when maintaining the PI sheet but also when displaying it, set the Allow function call in display mode indicator.
  6. Check and, if necessary, correct the data about the value assignment of the import parameters. Specify how the value is to be assigned in the function module for the following import parameters:
  1. Check and, if necessary, correct the data on the value assignment of the changing parameters. Enter the name and type of the variable whose value is to be transferred in the function call for the following changing parameters:

The variable must meet the following requirements:

  1. If you want to display the value returned for the changing parameter in the PI sheet, also enter the short text to be displayed before the value.
  1. Check and, if necessary, correct the name and type of the variable to which the values of the export parameters are to be transferred.
  2. If you want to display a value in the PI sheet, also enter a short text to be displayed before the value.
  3. Check the process instruction and, if necessary, correct errors (see Checking Process Instructions in the PI Assistant).
  4. When you have finished maintaining the data, choose Copy and save the process instruction.

If you have not corrected all errors when exiting the process instruction assistant, the error log is displayed. To call up the PI assistant again and correct errors, you must, however, first choose Continue to get back to the process instruction overview.
