Maintaining Resources

Prerequisites

Resource data is grouped thematically on different screens or tab pages. The resource category you enter when creating a resource determines which screens and data you can maintain.

You can define resource categories in Customizing for resources. The standard system settings contain, for example, the resource categories "processing unit", "labor", and "storage".

If you want to create a storage resource, you first must create a storage location to which you can assign the resource in Customizing.

If you choose the function for checking a resource, you are taken to the resource maintenance screens that you have not yet processed.

Procedure

  1. In the R/3 main menu, choose Logistics ® Production - Process ® Master Data ® Resources.
  2. The area menu for resources appears.

  3. Choose Resource ® Create or Change
  4. The initial screen for resource maintenance appears.

  5. Enter the data on the initial screen (for example, the key of the resource and the resource category) and choose Basic data.
  6. The Basic data tab page appears.

  7. When you create a resource, enter the basic data (such as the short text for naming the resource, the person responsible for the resource, the task list usage, and the storage location for storage resources).
  8. Choose .

When creating a resource, you can copy from a source if necessary. For more information on how to do this, see Copying Resources.

Result

The resource is created in the system.

To be able to use the resource in production planning, you must enter more data on the resource depending on the resource category. For more information on this, see Resource Maintenance and the chapters that follow it.
