Characteristic Value Assignment

Use

You use characteristic value assignment to specify various variants while you are creating an operative network by copying from a configurable standard network.

Prerequisites

Variant classes

You can only configure a standard network, if it is assigned to a class whose class type allows configuration. In the standard system this is class type 300. By defining a configuration profile you assign a standard network to a variant class, which contains the characteristics you need to for specifying a variant.

Object dependencies

You must additionally maintain the object dependencies (selection criteria, actions and constraints) for the objects that can be selected in configuration (activities, activity elements and PRTs).

Characteristics

You edit characteristics and their possible values in classification, which you can find in the SAP menu Logistics ® Central functions.

Activities

Characteristic Value Assignment

The following distinction is made during the assignment of characteristic values:

If you assign a characteristic value for the sales document item to the same variant class as the standard network, then the system copies this characteristic value assignment into the network created from the standard network.

If you want the characteristic values to be assigned separately, the variant classes must be different.

After you have maintained the network header data, the system will prompt you to assign the characteristic values.

Displaying and Changing Characteristic Value Assignment

You can display the characteristic value assignment in networks by choosing Extras ® Configuration ® Characteristic value assignment.

If the characteristic value assignment was carried in the network, you can change it in the network, if it was carried out in a sales document, you can only change it in that sales document.

If the configuration is changed, a change comparison is carried out, in which the objects affected by the change are deleted, added or changed.
