Periodic Allocations

Purpose

Periodic allocations are used to determine all the planned data to be considered for a period, and to make it available for enterprise planning.

Implementation Considerations

The functions and processes are largely the same as for overhead cost controlling. For more information, refer to the documentation for internal orders.

Correction postings in the project - for example, if a shift in dates leads to planned costs being incurred in different periods.

Planning overhead

Allocation of planned overhead in the WBS element.

In addition to the flat rate distribution of overheads in proportion to the unit costs, you can also determine overhead using template allocation.
In template allocation, the system distributes the overhead using precisely defined business processes or cost centers/activity types.

In networks, the system automatically determines the overhead as part of costing and records it in the header or activity.

Project planned interest calculation

Inclusion of costs for tied-up capital to improve planning quality.

Particularly in capital-intensive projects, you can use the planned interest calculation to achieve the best possible cost/revenue distribution in your project.

Planned interest calculation

Planned results analysis for projects

Periodic valuation of the planned project result.

Planned results analysis normally takes place in the billing element.

You can settle the planned operating result so determined to Profitability Analysis.

Planned Results Analysis

Planned settlement and planned data transfer for projects

Used to allocate planned costs to cost centers, business processes, or profitability segments for a view over the whole business - for example, to determine planned prices in cost centers.

The planned settlement is only available for plan-integrated objects.

Objects which are not plan-integrated are settled to Profitability Analysis using the planned date transfer.

Settlement of orders and projects

To access the various activities, choose Logistics or Accounting ® Project System ® Financials Planning ® Allocations.

Planned Result Simulation and Planned Data Transfer

Data from the simulation is settled to Profitability Analysis as follows:

If both the sender WBS element and the CO version to be settled are plan-integrated.

If either the sender WBS element or the CO version to be settled is not plan-integrated.

Only the results analysis objects are included in the transfer. There is no additional credit in the project. The planned data transfer is used to provide a detailed basis for annual planning in profitability analysis. You should execute it no more than once a year.

You access it in the Profitability Analysis menu by choosing Planning ® Integrated planning.

You have maintained a settlement rule for actual settlement to profitability analysis. The first time you run the planned settlement or planned data transfer the system automatically uses this settlement rule if there is no separate one for planned settlement. This means it is not necessary to define a separate rule for planned settlement.
