Overwriting BI Objects Using the Save Dialog

When you save a new BI object, you can overwrite existing BI objects that you have saved in your favorites or roles:

  1. Create a new BI object.
  2. To overwrite an existing BI object with your new BI object, in the context menu for the BI object, choose Save As.
  3. In the Save BI Object dialog box, select the BI object that you want to overwrite (one entry) from your favorites or roles.
  4. Choose Save. A background test that checks the authorizations for deleting BI objects is then started.
  5. In the Are you sure you want to overwrite <name of selected BI object>? dialog box, the system reminds you of the impact of overwriting the object. If you want to overwrite the selected BI object, choose Yes.
    Note

Note the following points in relation to overwriting BI objects:

    • You cannot overwrite queries.
    • When you overwrite a BI object, the original version of the object is deleted permanently. The new object thus overwrites the original object in all BI objects in which it is used.
    • It is only possible to overwrite an existing object if no changes are made to the description or technical name of the BI object. If you change the description or technical name of the BI object and choose Save, the object is not overwritten; a new BI object is created.
    • You cannot overwrite BI objects that are currently open in the context.
