Creating a Project and Migration Package for Time-Based Reduction for the Combination of SAP ERP, SAP CRM, and SAP SCM
Company Rainbow wants to create a lean test landscape for its integrated ERP, CRM, and SCM systems using SAP TDMS 4.0. The data slice date for the selection of data is May 1, 2011.
Creating a Project Template
Select the ready-to-use TDMS_TEMPLATE_TIME
project template.
Choose the Copy
pushbutton and enter ZTMP_TIME
as the project template name.
Navigate to the detailed view of the project template by clicking the project template name.
Choose the Edit
pushbutton and change the description to Time-Based Reduction for ERP, CRM, and SCM
on the details screen.
On the Migration Solution
tab page, retain only the following migration solutions:
Time-Based Reduction for SAP ERP
Time-Based Reduction for SAP CRM
Time-Based Reduction for SAP SCM
On the Project Template Parameters
tab page, make the following settings:
Delete Business Workplace Tables: Select the Execution Plan Step Level
checkbox. Deselect the Project Level
checkbox.
Exclude SAP ERP HCM Tables: Select the Execution Plan Step Level
checkbox . In the Parameter Data
section, select the Exclude SAP ERP HCM Tables
checkbox . Deselect the Project
Level
checkbox.
Activate Data Size Calculation for the Receiver Client: Select the Project Level
checkbox. Deselect the Execution Plan Step Level
checkbox.
Data Slice Date: Select the Project Level
checkbox. Deselect the Execution Plan Step Level
checkbox
Export Migration Data Through Files: Select the Project Level
checkbox. Deselect the Execution Plan Step Level
checkbox.
Note
At the project template level, make the following decisions regarding the use of migration parameters:
Is the parameter application-specific or is it relevant across all applications in the project.
Is a default value required for the migration parameter.
Save and close your project template.
Creating the System Landscape
In the System Landscape work center, create the following system landscapes for the applications in the project:

Creating a Project
You can create a project on the Project Template Overview
screen or in the Projects
work center.
Choose the Create Project
pushbutton. Complete the steps in the guided activity as follows:
Enter ZPRJ_TIME
as the project name and Time-Based Reduction for SAP ERP, SAP CRM and SAP SCM
as the project description.
Enter ZTMP_TIME
as the project template name.
Using the Move Up
and Move Down
pushbuttons, ensure that the migration solutions are available in the following sequence: Time-Based Reduction for ERP
; Time-Based Reduction
for SAP CRM
; Time-Based Reduction for SAP SCM
.
Choose the Finish
pushbutton.
Click the project name to view the details of the ZPRJ_TIME
project.
Save your entries.
Editing a Project
In the ZPRJ_TIME
project, select the Edit
pushbutton.
To assign project-level migration parameters, choose the Project Parameters
tab page.
Migration Parameter
: Activate Data Size Calculation for the Receiver Client
Select the Activate Data Size Calculation for the Receiver Client
interface.
Choose the New
pushbutton to create a new variant and enter the following description: Variant for Data Size Calculation.
Choose the Create
pushbutton.
In the Variants
section, select the Use
checkbox.
In the Parameter Data
section, do not select the Activate Data Size Calculation
checkbox.
Migration Parameter
: Data Slice Date
Select the Data Slice Date
interface.
Choose the New
pushbutton to create a new variant and enter the following description: Variant for Data Slice Date.
Choose the Create
pushbutton.
In the Variants
section, select the Use
checkbox. Choose the Assign
link to assign a system landscape. Select the ERP LID
system landscape and choose the Select
pushbutton.
In the Parameter Data
section, select May 1, 2011 as the data slice date.
Choose the Validate
pushbutton and choose Next
on the screen for the guided activity.
In the Analysis for the Data Slice Date
section, choose the Analyze Date
pushbutton. After the analysis is complete, choose the Finish
pushbutton.
Verify the validation status in the Variants
subsection. The recommended status is Green
.
Save the project.
Assigning System Landscapes to the Execution Plan
In the edit mode for your project, choose the Execution Plan
tab page. Choose the Edit
pushbutton.
Select the Time-Based Reduction for SAP ERP
migration solution.
Choose the Assign
link to assign a system landscape. Select the ERP LID
system landscape and save your entry.
Select the Time-Based Reduction for SAP CRM
migration solution.
Choose the Assign
link to assign a system landscape. Select the CRM LID
system landscape and save your entry.
Select the Time-Based Reduction for SAP SCM
migration solution.
Choose the Assign
link to assign a system landscape. Select the SCM LID
system landscape and save your entry.
Save the project.
Assigning Migration Parameters to the Execution Plan
In the edit mode for your project, choose the Execution Plan
tab page.
Select the Time-Based Reduction for SAP ERP
migration solution.
Choose the Edit
link to edit the migration parameters.
Migration Parameter
: Delete Business Workplace Tables
Select the Delete Business Workplace Tables
interface.
Choose the New
pushbutton to create a new variant and enter the following description: Variant for Business Workplace Tables.
Choose the Create
pushbutton.
In the Variants
section, select the Use
checkbox.
In the Parameter Data
section, select the Delete Business Workplace Tables
checkbox.
Migration Parameter
: Exclude SAP ERP HCM Tables
Select the Exclude SAP ERP HCM Tables
interface.
Choose the New
pushbutton to create a new variant and enter the following description: Variant for SAP ERP HCM Tables.
Choose the Create
pushbutton.
In the Variants
section, select the Use
checkbox.
In the Parameter Data
section, select the Exclude SAP ERP HCM Tables
checkbox.
Note
To exclude user-defined tables, select User-Defined Tables to Be Excluded
in the Parameter
column and add the table names in the Parameter Data
section.
Save the project.
Creating Migration Packages for the Execution Plan
In the edit mode for your project, choose the Execution Plan
tab page.
For each of the migration solutions in the execution plan, choose the Create Package
pushbutton to create the relevant migration package.
Click the migration package number to view the details for the package.
Note
Any parameter values you maintain at the project level or the migration solution level need not be entered again in the migration process tree at the activity level. The activities operate as background activities unless there are some issues.
When SAP TDMS generates the migration package, the RFC destination activity is already executed.
Executing the Migration Packages
You can execute the migration packages according to the logical sequence maintained in the project. You can also execute the migration packages in parallel if the infrastructure is robust.
