 Creating a Single-Level Line Routing for a Material/Product

Purpose

Describes the process for creating a single-level line routing.

Process Flow

  1. You create a node for the line routing.

  2. You create the line activities and use a hierarchy relationship to link them to the line routing.

The system automatically creates the relationship to the line routing when you use the context menu (right-click) to create the line activities in the structure tree from the line routing.

If you create line activities individually, you can assign them to a line routing by entering the line activities on the Relationship tab page for the line routing. When you save your data, the assigned line activities are displayed below the line routing in the navigation area.

See also: Creating a Line Routing and Line Activities with Hierarchy Relationships

  3. You maintain at least one mode for each line activity. Assign the production resource that is to be used for the line activity. If necessary, you can create production resources directly from the mode . In the mode, you enter the plant/location in which the line activity is to take place, including the duration. If you use Engineering Change Management to manage changes, you can also enter a change number for each mode. See also: Creating a Mode .

On the Secondary Resources tab page, you can enter additional production resources for a mode, such as production resources/tools that are not relevant for capacity planning in the SAP APO system. See also: Assigning Production Resources/Tools (Secondary Resources)

On the Costing Data tab page, you can create a costing master record for the mode, or assign one that has already been created. See also:

On the Line Assignment tab page, you assign one or more line elements to the mode, for instance a line segment or work area, to specify where the mode is to take place. This enables you to maintain a relationship between the mode of a line activity and the place where the mode is to take place. You can do this at an early stage and do not have to have balance the lines. See also: Line Assignment .

You can also assign line elements for a complete process structure.

  4. You assign components to a line activity by entering the PVS structure nodes or variants (when not all variants of a structure node are to be assigned) on the Assignments tab page. Refer to: Assigning Components to a Line Activity

You can assign components for a complete process structure or for part of a process structure using the application list Prod-Proc. Assigmnt (Product-Process Assignment).

  5. You maintain the sequence of line activities in the line routing. You specify the sequence of the assigned line activities on the Sequence tab page. Refer to: Maintaining the Sequence of Line Activities in the Line Routing and Editing the Sequence of Activities in Single-Level Process Structures .

    Caution Caution

When you work with production lines with takts, and line balancing is based on the process structure, you do not have to specify the sequence of the line activities. In this case, stating the sequence is only for information purposes.

    End of the caution.
  6. You create a production version to assign the material to the process structure with which it is to be produced. You enter the line routing header from the process structure as the iPPE access. See also: Maintaining a Production Version with iPPE Access .

  7. When you have maintained the iPPE access object, you can display the material and the production version assigned to the line routing on the Access Objects tab page for the line routing.
