Line Assignment

Use

You use the line assignment function to allocate one or more line elements to the mode of a line activity, to specify where that line activity is to take place. A line element can be a production line, a line segment, or a work area.This enables you to create a relationship between the mode of a line activity and the place where the line activity is to take place. You can do this at an early stage and do not have to have balanced the lines.

Integration

You can also use the line assignment as a template when you balance the lines. You can do so in the Line Balance (LnAss) application list (Line Balance from Line Assignment).

Prerequisites

You have created a line structure.

Assigning lines manually on the line assignment tab page

You assign a line to the mode on the line assignment tab page in the detailed data for the mode. Enter the line element at which the mode is to take place.

Assigning lines in the application list

You can use the application list to make and check line assignments for a complete process structure.

To assign lines in this way, you must load the relevant line structure in the navigation area and then use drag and drop to assign the line activities to line elements, such as line segments.
