The passive recall of SEPA credit transfers (SCT) describes what happens at the beneficiary bank when an SCT recall takes place.

Prerequisites

  • The SEPA credit transfer is a duplicate, is technically incorrect, or has been triggered with fraudulent intent.

  • The originator bank triggers the recall within 10 bank working days of the settlement of the SEPA credit transfer.

Process

The passive SCT recall process starts when the beneficiary bank that received and processed the original SCT receives a request for recall. If the original SCT can be returned, the beneficiary bank creates a return order. If the original SCT cannot be returned, or if the customer is not in agreement, the system creates and sends a result of investigation.

If the request for recall (camt.056 message) involves a third-party institute, a request agent from the category 03 (3rd party) is created with the status 22 (To be forwarded). The file content is stored on the File Handler Feedback tab page in the report for request agent management. In the output manager the, camt.056 file is recreated with new assignment information in the message header.

A camt.029 feedback message updates the third-party request agent of the original camt.056 whose status is 25 (Feedback Requested). If there is no request agent, the system creates a new one. This file content is also stored on the File Handler Feedback tab page in the report for request agent management. The PROCESS method recreates the camt.029 file with new assignment information in the message header.

The process for messages that do not involve a third-party financial institute is as follows:

  1. The beneficiary bank receives a request for recall (camt.056 message). This message can either contain a SEPA direct debit (SDD) request for cancellation (pacs.003 message), or an SCT recall (pacs.008 message).

    • If the recall is an SDD request for cancellation, the Input Manager triggers the standard recall process. For more information, see Request for Cancellation.

    • If the recall is an SCT recall, the Input Manager creates an SCT recall object (category: SCT Recall - Passive).

The system creates a request agent (category: SCT Recall - Passive) for monitoring and status control in the SCT recall process.

  2. You can either activate the recall process directly, or you can schedule a batch job at a specific time.

  3. The system processes the recalls as follows:

    • If the system finds a payment item, it transfers the payment item to Exception Handling (see no. 4) for processing.

    • If the system did not find a payment item, it sends a result of investigation to the originator bank as a camt.029 message once the return time line has elapsed (10 bank working days after the camt.056 message is submitted). The system creates the camt.029 message. (From the SAP Easy Access menu, you choose   Payment Engine   Periodic Processing   Processes   Request Agent Mass Processing   to schedule this in end-of-day processing, using the action Expire.)

  4. The system processes the payment items found as follows:

    • If the payment item to be recalled is internal and has been posted, a payment order is sent to the account management system.

The customer must decide whether the payment item is to be returned. If the payment item can be recalled, this is done in the account management system in postprocessing. The system sets the relevant status for the request agent in FS-PE. If the payment item can be recalled, the Output Manager sends a pacs.004 message from an outgoing payment order. If a payment item cannot be recalled, the system groups the relevant payment items according to original sender BIC of the original incoming order, and uses the request agent to generate the camt.029 message.

    • If the payment item to be recalled has not been posted, the system redirects the payment item in FS-PE to a CpD account, and the standard return process is triggered. After return and receipt of the return by the XI converter in FS-PE, the existing return process for creating a pacs.004 message is triggered.
