Today notifications are an established concept for alerting users. Business users know notifications from a variety of social or business network sources, from their daily user experience on mobile devices or as email notifications. Business applications notifications are an important piece to make users aware of certain conditions that may require a timely action or other kinds of user’s attention. In addition, customers more and more expect a meaningful support of notifications also as part of their business solutions. Typical candidates for notifications are workflow items like the assignment of new purchase order approvals, exceeded KPI thresholds, or pending invitations into interaction platform groups.

Notification Channel is a framework for applications to deliver notifications to end users through various channels. It is part of software component SAP_GWFND.

The functionality includes:
  • Backend provider interface – enable / text templates / handling actions

  • Backend API – manage notification (create/delete)

  • Configuration for hub and embedded scenarios (connectivity)

  • Configuration for push channels (connectivity)
