You can use this process to configure Message Board and related messaging functions.
In Activity Maintenance
, you review or define activities of the Process Workflow Manual Activity
and Process Workflow Automatic Activity
types. You review rule settings of the process workflow
activities (see Process Workflow).
In Process Workflow Maintenance
, you review or define process workflow templates (see Process Workflow Maintenance).
In Message Type Maintenance
, you review or define message template (see Message Type Maintenance).
Recommendation
Contact your SAP representative if any changes to the process workflow activities, process workflows, and message types are required.
In Activity Maintenance
, you review or configure Message Board Selection Panel
(MESSAGE_BOARD_PANEL
) and Message List
(MESSAGE_BOARD_LIST
).
In POD Maintenance
, you review or configure Message Board
to be run as a standalone POD or as part of another POD (Operation
or Work Center
PODs). You assign Message
List
(MESSAGE_BOARD_LIST
) to a fixed, popover, or popup layout area.
If you want to send E-mail notifications, you do the following in System Rule Maintenance
, in the System Setup
group:
Enter the SMTP mail server for sending messages for the Mail Server
system rule.
Enter the E-mail address to be used as the sender's E-mail address when messages are sent from within the system for the Source Mail Address
system rule. If left blank, the default value is ALARMING
For more information, see System Setup Rules.
You must also enter valid E-mail addresses of the recipients on the Notification
tab page of Message Type Maintenance
.
If you want to make real-time message notifications available to an operator in the Production Operator Dashboard (POD), you do the following:
In POD Maintenance
, on the Main
tab page, in the Real-Time Message Display
field, you select Icon
(see Setting
Up Operation PODs and Setting Up Work Center PODs).
In Message Type Maintenance
, you define what message types you want to appear in the POD's Real-Time Message Display
by selecting the POD Notification
checkbox (see Message
Type Maintenance).
In System Setup Maintenance
, you verify the setting of rted.polling.period.seconds
(Real-Time Message Display polling period in seconds
). The period should be short in order not to delay the
display of real-time messages to the Real-Time Message Display (RTMD) list.
Note
The Message List
(MESSAGE_BOARD_LIST
) must be assigned to a fixed, popover, or popup layout area of the POD.
If you want a user to view and process messages in the Message Board
POD, you do the following in Message Type Maintenance
:
Choose or configure the message template with a process workflow
Configure the message to be closed automatically when the process workflow for the message is complete by selecting the Auto Close On Process Workflow Completion
checkbox and enabling the Auto Close Message by the System
process
in Background Process Execution
(see Background Process Execution), or
Configure the message to be closed automatically in a defined time period by selecting the Use Auto Close Interval
checkbox
Recommendation
Do not select both the Use Auto Close Interval
and Auto Close on Process Workflow Completion
checkboxes for the same message type.
Set the message to the Enabled
status
If you want a user to be required to enter a reason why a message is being closed, you do the following:
Define corrective action codes for message types in Reason Code Maintenance
(see Reason
Code Maintenance)
Specify that a corrective action code is required to close a message type in Process Workflow Maintenance
using the Log Codes
(LOG_CODES
) activity as a part of the process workflow
If you want the system to send real-time warning messages, in Real-Time Warnings Maintenance
, you enter yield processing and consecutive identical nonconformance criteria, and assign a message type. The system sends real-time warning messages if these
criteria are not met (see Real-Time Warnings Maintenance).
