Application Type: Report Writer

Use

You can use the launchpad to call a Report Writer or Report Painter report from the Portal and also from SAP NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC) version 3.x.

The displayed report offers all the interactive functionality that can also be found in the back end. The only exception is the Office Integration. For technical reasons, it is not possible to display the report data in the Microsoft Excel Inplace format if you use the NWBC 3.x and show the data from a remote system. In all other cases, you can set the parameter GUI Type to SAP GUI for Windows.

To navigate to a Report Writer application, you must enter the mandatory parameters.

You can also configure the following parameters for this launchpad application type:

  • Report Writer-Related Parameters

    You can determine whether the report is displayed in SAP GUI for HTML or SAP GUI for Windows.

  • Entries Following Start of Application

    • Initial Screen

      Personalization data is not forwarded automatically to the application. Therefore, the execution stops on the selection screen and the user can enter the selection criteria he wishes to display the data for.

    • Personalized

      Depending on the settings in the personalization dialog box, personalized data is forwarded to the application.

      For this option, you must also enter the name of the personalization dialog box.

    • Variant

      You can enter a variant that may exist for this report in the back-end system.

      If Variant Cannot be Changed by User is selected, the end-user cannot change the variant in the standalone front-end system.

    • Skip Initial Screen if Possible

      If all the fields on the selection screen have been forwarded values, the report is executed without stopping at the selection screen. However, if one or more fields have not been forwarded values, the report stops on the selection screen so that the user can enter the missing selection criteria.
