Application Types: Mandatory Parameters
Use
When you add a new application to a launchpad, you must define certain mandatory parameters for the application.
To do this, complete the following steps:
-
Open an existing launchpad or create a new launchpad.
-
On the Change Launchpad Role screen, choose an application inside the launchpad or choose New Application.
-
Specify the necessary parameters for the application.
The list of mandatory parameters is detailed below. Note that not all parameters are available for all application types.
-
Link Details
-
Link Text
A text that appears at runtime for the navigation link.
-
Description
A text that explains the target application in more detail.
The description can be displayed in the Stand-Alone application type front end.
-
-
Application Type
The type of application that is opened. Choose from the dropdown list.
-
Application Parameter(s)
Specifies the particular application to be opened. The name and number of parameters to be entered is determined by the application type.
For example, a URL application type could have http://www.google.com as the application parameter.

System
-
System Alias
Since the host and protocol of a system a customer uses is variable, a system alias is available. This is a name associated with a system, by which Portal components can reference that system. The system connection is defined in the Portal or in transaction SM59.
This parameter is not visible for all application types.
For further information about system aliases, especially regarding Portal and SAP NetWeaver Business Client integrations, see the system documentation.
-
Force Local System if NWBC
The SAP NetWeaver Business Client is connected to a local back-end system and, therefore, no System Alias is required. Select this field to ensure that the application is launched in the SAP NetWeaver Business Client back-end system, regardless of whether a System Alias has been entered.
This parameter is not visible for all application types.
