Filter Worksheet by Rules

After you have created one or more rules on your worksheet, you can filter the worksheet to show the records that passed or that failed one or more rules.

Note

Filters are temporary on a worksheet and are not kept if you merge, append, aggregate, or duplicate the data. If you share a worksheet with other users, the filters are not shared. However, if you export a worksheet, you can choose to export only the filtered data or all of the data.

A filter becomes invalid when you change the data type or delete the column to which the filter is applied.

To filter your worksheet by rule, perform these steps:

  1. If you are not already on the the Data Table tab of your worksheet, click the Data Table icon in the top left corner above your worksheet.
  2. Click the Filter icon in the top left corner of your worksheet.
  3. Click the + sign to add a new filter.
  4. Click Rules and choose the name of the rule by which you wish to filter the worksheet.

The worksheet now displays only the records that passed the rule.

  5. (Optional) If you want to filter by the records that failed the rule, click the down arrow in the filter definition and click Failed Records.
  6. To add another filter for a different rule, repeat steps 2 through 4.

If you apply more than one filter on a worksheet, all filter values must be true for the result to appear. Applying multiple filters to the same column with contradicting values will show an empty worksheet.

  7. To remove a filter select the x at the top right corner of the filter.
