Function Variant
A certain set of functions available with each view type. The scope of functions is predefined by SAP.
A function variant is a subset of functions of a view type with a client-wide unique name. Within the function variant you are also able to control the assignment, sort order, name, symbol and help text of the functions.
When maintaining function variants, you can directly create customer-specific functions. The system then incorporates a function with the function code you assigned into the current function variant In the Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) for interpreting these functions, you can read these function codes and implement an interpretation of your choosing. Only use function codes in the Z namespace to prevent overlaps with the standard shipment. There is no limit to the number of new functions you can create.
