Background documentationDependencies of Medical Objects when Canceling

When you cancel medical objects in the clinical system (i.s.h.med), the cancellation function will display the dependencies of the objects. This means it displays the superordinate and subordinate objects in tree structure form.

Example Example

You wish to cancel an order item of a clinical order. Several services are entered for this order item. In this case, the order item is the superordinate object, the services are subordinate objects.

End of the example.

Generally, when you cancel a superordinate object, the system will automatically cancel all subordinate objects. However, there are exceptions with various medical objects, i.e. subordinate objects which are offered for optional cancellation.

Under certain circumstances, the cancellation of subordinate objects leads to the cancellation of superordinate objects. These circumstances depend on which object is involved.

Note Note

The system will not take documents into account, as documents always have several reference levels, also within one document.

End of the note.

Note Note

If you cancel the last valid object for a patient with provisional patient master data, the system will cancel the provisional patient master data.

End of the note.
Clinical Order

If you cancel a clinical order, the system will also cancel all dependent, subordinate objects. These include:

  • Order items

  • Appointment templates

  • Services (incl. dependent object for the service)

  • Appointments

  • Further objects (e.g. transport orders)

When you cancel a clinical order, the system will offer visits as an option preselected for cancellation.

Note Note

The system will automatically cancel a surgery movement.

End of the note.
Order Item (of a Clinical Order)

If you cancel an order item, the system will automatically cancel all subordinate objects.

The system will also cancel the appointment template of the order item is the last assigned order item for this appointment template.

Note Note

The system will not display the appointment template in the Cancel dialog box.

If the appointment template contains order item appointment dependencies for joint planning, the system transfers the appointment dependencies from the item to be canceled to the next item.

See Cancel Clinical Order

End of the note.

If the order item is the last in the clinical order, the system will also cancel the clinical order.

When you cancel a clinical order item, the system will offer visits as an option preselected for cancellation.

Note Note

The system will automatically cancel a surgery movement.

End of the note.
Service

When you cancel a service, the system will use the following logic for canceling subordinate objects:

A corresponding appointment for the service will be preselected for cancellation. You cannot deselect the appointment, i.e. the appointment must also be canceled.

A corresponding visit, with the exception of surgery movements, will be preselected for cancellation. You can deselect the visit, i.e. the visit can be optionally canceled.

If the service is the last service of an order item, the order item will not be preselected for cancellation. You can select the order item and cancel it as an option.

Note Note

If the order item is the order item of a surgery, the system will automatically cancel the order item.

This is because when an order item is created, the system automatically creates a surgery anchor service. The order item is then also visible in the surgery planning arrivals list. As the system automatically cancels the surgery anchor service when the service is canceled, the order item would be retained but would no longer be visible in the surgery planning arrivals list.

End of the note.

If you cancel the last service of a request, the request must also be canceled. The system will offer a technical document for the request as a cancellation option but will not preselect it.

Caution Caution

If you also cancel the visit when canceling the service and this visit is the last visit for the case, the case will be canceled and all subordinate objects must also be canceled. Corresponding objects are then no longer optionalized.

End of the caution.
Cycle

A cycle is always connected with one or more services.

If you cancel a cycle, the system will cancel all the services for the cycle (cycle master service and individual cyclical services). If you cancel a cyclical master service, the system will cancel all subordinate individual cyclical services.

If you cancel an individual cyclical service, this has no immediate effect on the cycle.

Visit

When canceling a visit, the cancellation of dependent objects depends on the service status as follows:

  • Service status Scheduled (DI)

    • You can cancel the service as an option. The system will preselect the service for cancellation. This optionalization is not available for surgery movements.

If you deselect the service, the appointment will also be deselected. The system will recreate the status of the service before the visit was created (e.g. Confirmed Requested).

    • You can cancel the appointment as an option. The system will preselect the appointment for cancellation. This optionalization is not available for surgery movements.

      Note Note

The optionalization of service and appointment only applies when all services for the visit have the status Scheduled. As soon as one of the corresponding services has a subsequent status (e.g. Performed, Released), the services and the appointment must also be canceled.

      End of the note.
  • Service status > Scheduled (e.g. Performed, Released)

    • You must also cancel the service (not optional). The system will preselect the service for cancellation.

    • You must also cancel the appointment (not optional). The system will preselect the service for cancellation.

      Note Note

If you cancel the last visit of a case, the system will not take account of the service status, as the case will also be canceled. The system will preselect the service and the appointment for cancellation. You must also cancel the service, appointment and all case-related objects (e.g. procedures, material, order items).

      End of the note.

When you cancel a visit from a visit movement, the system will offer the subsequent visits for cancellation. The Subsequent Movements checkbox is preselected. You can cancel the subsequent movement as an option.

The system will also display all objects for the subsequent visits in the Cancel dialog box.

Appointment

If a visit already exists for an appointment, you can only cancel the appointment from the planning grid, if the visit has Planned status. If this is not the case, you can cancel the appointment. The visit is preselected as a cancellation option.

Note Note

With surgeries, the visit (movement) is created when the surgery is started. The visit has the Actual status and not Planned status. This rule does not therefore apply to surgeries.

End of the note.

The rules for canceling a visit also apply to services (see Visit section). This means that the service is always preselected. The service status determines whether the service can or must be cancelled as an option.

You can only cancel the corresponding service in their entirety (Assigned Services checkbox).

If it is also possible to cancel the order item (see Order Item section) the services must also be canceled once the order item has been selected (no longer optional).

Surgeries

Surgeries represent an exception to the cancellation rules, because with certain objects, you do not have the option of deciding whether corresponding objects should also be optionally canceled. This means that corresponding objects, such as order items, must also be canceled.

When you cancel a surgery appointment, the optionalization concerning assigned services applies (see Appointment section). If you select the service for cancellation, the order item must also be canceled.

Note Note

When you cancel a surgery, the system will also cancel the diagnoses. The system will take into account connections from diagnoses to procedures, but will not display the procedures in the Cancel dialog box. The system will automatically cancel the procedures for the surgery.

You can cancel case-related procedures as an option.

The system does not also cancel documents which are connected with the anchor service of the surgery when cancelling surgeries. You must manually set the deletion indicator for these. Alternatively, you can cancel the documents together with the surgery using the business add-in (BAdI) N1_CANCEL (BAdI: Cancel Function).

End of the note.
Objects from SAP Patient Management (IS-H)

In general, the system will also cancel objects from SAP Patient Management such as, for example, medical records, insurance relationships, etc. with the visit.

Note Note

In case of exceptions, the system will display error messages when canceling. You must cancel these objects separately. You can then execute the cancellation in the clinical system (i.s.h.med).

End of the note.
Context

Using the context (in the clinical order), you can connect appointments and requests with the entered clinical order.

If you cancel the clinical order, the system will offer the corresponding objects from the context as a cancellation option. The system will select the objects for cancellation.

Additional Objects

If you cancel further objects (e.g. a transport order), this has no effect on the superordinate objects (e.g. service).

  • Further objects include:

  • Transport orders

  • Time stamps

  • Teams for the service (surgery)

  • Complications

    Note Note

The material for a service represents a peculiarity, as billable material services (IS-H services) can be created from materials. The material and material service are assigned to the service.

When you cancel a service, the system will automatically cancel the assigned material services, even if the materials (option) are not also canceled.

    End of the note.
