Function documentationSurgery-Specific Functions in Surgery Work Station

In addition to the functions generally available in the function selection of the documentation work stations (e.g. maintain diagnosis, create medication order, etc.) the Surgery work station provides functions especially for the entry and maintenance of surgeries.

You can use these functions and indicators to control the progress of the OR documentation. Select the hotspot on the relevant indicator to change the value of the indicator.

Features

  • Start Surgery

You must set the Surgery Started indicator at the beginning of a registered and planned surgery. However, this indicator can also be set implicitly when you enter a corresponding time stamp. Setting this indicator updates the planned surgery time with the current time. The system creates a new movement or updates an existing movement and assigns this movement to the services and the surgery appointment.

    Caution Caution

When you select the Start Surgery indicator, you set the surgery movement to ACTUAL status. It is not possible to reset the movement status. However, Start Surgery has no effect on tasks, profiles, and situations.

    End of the caution.

If you have defined required entry fields for updating a movement, which the system cannot fill or if errors occur when updating the movement, the system will display detailed messages containing information on missing data or errors which occurred. The user must correct the errors or supplement the missing data and select Start Surgery again. The system will update the movement and set the surgery to Started.

  • Cancel Surgery

Cancel Surgery means that the system cancels the clinical order for the surgery, the main surgery, all secondary surgeries and the anesthesia, and all surgery situations and surgery profiles.

When you cancel a surgery, you exit the Surgery work station.

  • Patient Consent

Function for setting the Patient Consent Exists indicator, if the patient has already given his consent for the surgery.

  • Surgeon's Release

Function for setting the corresponding indicator if the operating surgeon has confirmed the surgery and premedication of the patient can begin.

  • Premedication Complete

You set this indicator when the patient's premedication has been completed.

  • Assign Case

You use this function to assign a surgery to a case.

  • Create Secondary Surgery

You use this function to create a secondary surgery for a main surgery. The system creates the corresponding surgery situation for the secondary surgery. The surgery situation for the secondary surgery is determined in the same way as the main surgery.

Several secondary surgeries can be performed during one main surgery.

  • Cancel Secondary Surgery

You use this function to cancel a secondary surgery for a main surgery.

  • Exit Material Entry

It is not possible to end material entry during service release, as a surgery is not released due to the release of the individual surgery services.

You can use this function to end material entry, so that the materials consumed can be billed and booked from the stockroom, in case of MM integration.
