Object documentationOR Plan

The OR plan displays a list of the surgeries. The OR plan represents the chronological sequence of the surgeries in a resource (operating room or operating organizational unit) over a specific period of time. The time period and the operating room or operating organizational unit (OU) are the central starting points for displaying surgeries. Surgery appointments can be planned and created for an operating room or for an OU. It is not currently possible to create surgery appointments for employees.

Note Note

The OR plan in the Surgeries view type displays all surgeries in an operating room over a specific period of time, regardless of which operating organizational unit (OU) should perform them.

Using targeted lock entries and updates the OR plan will always display the up-to-date operating room capacity. This also applies if several users process the same operating room for the same day.

End of the note.

In the OR plan you can schedule and reschedule surgeries.

You can process the surgeries in the OR plan as follows:

  • Drag&Drop:

You can drag surgeries from the worklist into the OR plan or move them within the OR plan. The position in the OR plan, at which you drop the surgery, determines the time and the operating room of the surgery.

The position at which a surgery is dropped using Drag & Drop (from the table of planned surgeries or from the worklist table) for a planning step determines which type of appointment is created.

    Note Note

Note that time-based planning is never possible in a layout without time specification. Time-based and day-based planning is always possible in a layout in which date and time are displayed.

You can drop surgeries at the following positions:

    End of the note.
    • Date

You schedule the surgery in the resource (room or OU) for a specific day. Where the system inserts the surgery in relation to the other day-based surgeries of this resource depends on the priority of the request/preregistration (clinical order).

    • Time

The system creates a time-based appointment in the relevant resource and schedules the surgery at the time that is displayed in the time field on which the surgery is dropped. The system thus inserts the surgery before an existing surgery or before the blank row.

The surgeries that come afterwards and that do not have a fixed appointment time are shifted by the duration of the scheduled surgery. The blank row also is moved back by the duration of the surgery.

    • Room, Organizational Unit

If you drop a surgery on the cell for a room or an organizational unit (OU), the system creates an appointment in an operating room or in an OU. The system inserts this surgery as the first surgery in this operating room or this OU, provided that the layout permits time-based planning. With day-based planning, the system inserts the surgery according to its priority at the relevant position in relation to the day-based surgeries.

    • Patient Name

If you drop a surgery on a patient name (or on "Free"), the system inserts the surgery before the existing surgery.

The OU or Room row determines whether the surgery is scheduled in an operating room or at OU level. The Time column determines whether the surgery is scheduled for a specific time or day.

  • Processing functions:

You select the desired processing function (see Available Functions in Surgeries View Type) using:

    • Pushbutton (mouse)

    • Function keys CTRL-F1 to CTRL-F12

The system administrator determines which functions are executed with which function keys.

Structure

Surgeries consist of single-row or multiple-row information.

The OR plan will display one free row for each operating room in which a surgery can be planned. This row also displays the start time of the next surgery to be scheduled.

Depending on the requirements of the current planning situation you can display the surgery in detail (multiple rows) or compacted (single row). You use the corresponding expand and collapse functions for all or only specific surgeries.

Example Example

Services and team members are typical examples of multiple line information, whereas the patient name or the case number are always displayed on a single line.

End of the example.

Caution Caution

As surgeries may stretch over several rows, these rows become dependent on each other. Re-sorting in the layout would separate the information concerning one surgery and is therefore not possible.

End of the caution.

Furthermore you can also control whether the system should automatically close any time gaps which result in the OR plan in the Surgeries view type in the clinical work station. See Surgeries View Type

Note Note

This function is available to you if you have activated the business function Clinical System Situation-Based Clinical Documentation (ISHMED_SCD).
