Free text orders require a service which is defined in the hospital service catalog. Since their ID code is displayed on the user interface (e.g. surgery monitor), you should select a descriptive name. In the surgery work station the system displays the text of the order.

You should note the following prerequisites for the service of a free-text order:

  • The Medical Service indicator must be set.

  • Set the Different Service Text Allowed indicator. This means the start of the order text is copied into the service text and to be displayed in every service overview (e.g. in the clinical work station).

  • You can use all other indicators as for other medical services in the in-house catalog.

You must enter the service for the free-text order in system parameter N1LSTEXT. See Configuring Orders
