Drug Preparation
Some drugs such as, for example, infusions, must be prepared before administration. This is done for example, by the pharmacist or the nursing staff of a care unit.
This function supports you in the preparation and the documentation.
This function is integrated into the Medication Events/Inpatient nursing Services
view type of the clinical work station.
A prepared drug is flagged in the Preparation
column by the
(-
) icon.
You can also call the preparation using the hotspot in the event table in the order dialog.
In the drug master it has been determined that the drug must be prepared at the organizational unit (OU) or in the pharmacy.
You have ordered the drug.
The events for the order are generated and have "Confirmed" status.
The system calculates the preparations using the event data.
You can, for example, change the bag size and the quantity of the preparation. The system updates the preparation data accordingly.
Note
Note that drugs which must be prepared can only be administered when a preparation has been created. The only exceptions are compounds which must be prepared at the organizational unit.
The OU parameter N1ME_APREP
is available for automatic preparation. See Organizational Unit-Related Parameters for Medication

You can change the quantity to be made and the bag size.
Make your changes and choose
(Regenerate Bag
).
If the quantity to be made is different from the planned dose, the preparation is oriented towards the quantity to be made.
The system updates the preparation data, i.e. it uses the quantity to be made to determine the number of required bags and the scrap. For each bag the system creates a row in the list of preparations with the created quantity.
In the list of preparations you can use the hot spot in the Details
column to open the detail view and view the list of drugs required for the corresponding bags.
Enter the employee responsible (Prepared By
field) and save your entries.
The system flags the preparation as "Executed".
