You can administer or dispense standard drugs and premade compounds without a detailed administration dialog.

Prerequisites

Under the following circumstances you cannot document an event as administered or dispensed with quick administration:

  • You use the Business Add-In (BAdI) N1ME_READ_PARAM and there is a time difference between the planned time and the actual time of administration/dispensing of a time-critical drug (system parameter N1ADTM = 1), which does not lie within the time window for the time difference defined in the BAdI. You must enter a reason for the time difference when administering/dispensing. This is required to call the administration dialog. See Customer-Specific Enhancements for Medication.

  • For administration/dispensing, you have to enter information that the system cannot preset or determine from the order data or event data. This includes the following information:

    • Dose difference

    • Scrap

    • Administered by Patient/Caregiver indicator

    • Lab results check

  • To administer the planned quantity of an infusion or nutritional solution, it is necessary to hang bags at points of time in the future.

Features

You can select one or more events in views of the Medication Events/Inpatient Services view type in the clinical work statiob and perform administration using Quick Administration (Quick Administration) without the administration dialog.

On the Event tab page in the enhanced view of an order or in the order detail dialog, you can only document individual events by means of quick administration.

When executing quick administration for infusions and nutritional solutions the system automatically documents the hanging of the first bag with the first flow rate. If a bag with the rate used has emptied in the past and further prepared bags are available for the ordered planned dose, these are also documented as administered. If the ordered flow rates result in rate changes at times which are in the past, this rate change is also documented as executed. If it was possible to administer the complete ordered planned quantity at the flow rates to be used in the past, the system documents the medication event as “removed” and enters the entire planned quantity as administered.

The system sets the selected events of the administration or dispensing event type to the internal status administered or dispensed without opening the administration dialog.

The system requests a confirmation of the status change by prompting the entry of the employee responsible. If a witness is necessary for the administration/dispensing, the system displays an enhanced dialog box for this event where the employee responsible and witness are entered.

Note Note

If one of the selected events cannot be documented using quick administration, for example, because the lab value check is missing, the system cancels the function and displays an error message stating that the other events were also not documented as administered/dispensed.
