Managers can use this function to assess the talent of their employees. Depending on which processes are defined in Customizing, they can evaluate the potential or competencies of the employee, or nominate the employee as a talent for a talent group, for example.
Completed talent assessments are displayed in an employee's detailed talent profile. For more information, see Talent Profile for Managers and Talent Management Specialists and Performance Values and Potential Values in the Talent Profile.
In Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, you have made the settings under
.In Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development under HRTMC_CALIBRATION_GRID
to the productive client and assigned it to the parameter CALIBRATION_GRID
. Alternatively, you can create a customer-specific application form and assign it to the parameter CALIBRATION_GRID
.
Note
You need the application form so that the managers can display a print preview of the calibration grid and then print it.
To be able to perform talent assessments and edit development plans, the newest version of Adobe Flash Player must be installed on your PC.
To be able to display a print preview of the calibration grid, Adobe Reader must be installed on your PC.
In the standard SAP system, we provide the following processes for the talent assessment:
Performance Management (if the business function HCM_OSA_CI_1
is active)
Development Plan
For more information about this process, see Talent Development.
Potential
Risks
Derailers
Competencies
Nominations for Talent Groups
Managers have the following applications available for the talent assessment:
Talent Assessment
(HRTMC_TA_DASHBOARD
)
Perform Talent Assessment
(HRTMC_TA_ASSESSMENT
)
The system displays the list of all employees that are assigned to the managers directly. The managers have the following options:
From the list, they select the employees for whom they want to perform the talent assessment. If managers choose Create
or Edit
, the Perform Talent Assessment
application appears.
If the talent assessment has not been completed, managers can delete it. If you have created process groups in Customizing, managers can select the process group for which they want to delete the talent assignments. To display the deletion, the managers must then update the display.
Example
In Customizing, you have created the following process groups:
Risks and Derailers
with the processes Risks
and Derailers
Potential
with the process Potential
A manager has assessed the risks, derailers, and the potential for an employee. The assessment is not yet completed.
The company guidelines stipulate that the assessment of risks and derailers is only required for top talents. Since the employee concerned is not a top talent, the manager wants to delete this assessment.
The manager chooses the Delete
pushbutton, he or she can select the process groups Risks and Derailers
and Potential
. The manager deletes Risks and Derailers
and then updates the display.
The entry in the Risks and Derailers
column changes to Create
since there is no longer an assessment for this process group. The Potential
column continues to display the Change
entry.
They can display talent assessments that they have performed and completed.
They can display the development plans that the talent management specialist has created, and process them further. For more information, see Talent Development.
They can display the performance assessments and potential assessments of their employees as a grid view. They can also compare employees (see Side-By-Side Comparison) and display a print preview of the calibration grid, and then print it.
The system displays all processes for the talent assessment for which you have defined appropriate forms in Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development under
.This enables processes that you grouped in Customizing to be edited together. Meaning that the forms defined for this are provided for joint editing in a sequence that can be defined in Customizing.
Example
In Customizing, you have created the Risks and Derailers
process group and assigned it the following processes:
Risks
Derailers
If managers select this process group, they first receive the assessment of the risks to edit, followed by the assessment of the possible derailers for the employee.
When managers create or edit a talent assessment, the processes are on the left-hand side, while the form for the current process is displayed with the ranking criteria on the right-hand side.
The managers can set the required proficiency for the displayed criteria using a scale. The text for the chosen proficiency is then displayed next to the scale.
No ranking criteria are displayed for the Nominations for Talent Groups
process. Instead, in a dialog box, the managers can enter the required talent group for which they want to nominate the employee. They can also select a reason (predefined in Customizing) for the nomination and enter a note as required.
The managers can save the talent assessment. It then has the status In Process
. The managers can then use the Talent Assessment
application on the In Process
tab to call the talent assessment and process it further.
The managers can complete the talent assessment. It then has the status Completed
and is transferred to the employee's detailed talent profile.
