Function documentationPerformance Values and Potential Values in the Talent Profile

The talent profile for managers and talent management specialists displays the manager's assessments of an employee's performance and potential. It also displays the performance values and potential values from the talent review meeting in which this employee was discussed.

Depending on how you assess employees in your enterprise, the system determines the performance values and potential values displayed in the talent profile differently. You can use the following applications for the performance assessment and potential assessment:

  • Talent assessment with predefined Performance Management process and talent assessment document

  • Employee assessment with flexible appraisal processes

For more information, see Assessment of Employees and Calibration Process for Employee Assessments.

Features

The talent profile for managers and talent management specialists displays the following performance values and potential values:

Talent Assessment
  • On the Overview tab, the talent profile displays the performance values and potential values that are defined for the employee concerned in the infotypes Performance (7409) and Potential (7408). The following values are thereby displayed:

    • Manager Assessment

      • If only the manager has made and completed an assessment, the manager's assessment is displayed here.

      • If multiple performance assessments or potential assessments exist for an employee in an appraisal period, the arithmetic average of these values is displayed in the standard SAP system.

If you want to calculate the mean value differently to the default calculation, you need to create an implementation of the Business Add-In (BAdI) Calculation of Mean Value for Appraisal Elements (HRTMC_ASSESSMENT_AVERAGE). For the BAdI, see Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, and choose Basic Settings.

For more information, see Performance Values and Potential Values: Manager Assessment.

    • Assessment Through Talent Review Meeting

If the employee concerned was also discussed in a talent review meeting and this meeting made a different performance assessment and potential assessment, the assessment from the talent review meeting is displayed on the Overview tab.

For more information, see the Procedure for Talent Profile for Managers and Talent Management Specialists section of Determination of the Valid Performance Value and Potential Value.

  • On the Talent Assessment tab under Potential and Performance, the managers and talent management specialists can call the completed appraisal document for the employee concerned.

    Note Note

If there is more than one performance assessment or potential assessment for an appraisal period for an employee because he or she is in concurrent employment, the talent management specialist can display all completed appraisal documents for this employee.

Managers see only the appraisal document that they created and completed. They cannot display the documents of other managers.

    End of the note.
Employee Assessment

The same applies here as for the talent assessment, with the following deviations:

  • If multiple performance assessments or potential assessments exist for an employee in an appraisal period, the arithmetic average of these values is always displayed.

  • In the standard SAP system, the Talent Assessment tab provides managers and talent management specialists with access to appraisal documents with the status Completed and Closed Approved.

  • The detailed determination of performance values and potential values is based on the settings that you defined in Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development under Start of the navigation path Assessment of Employees Next navigation step Employee Assessment with Flexible Appraisal Processes Next navigation step Define Data Retrieval for Flexible Appraisal Processes End of the navigation path. For more information, see the Customizing documentation.
