Event Processing

Use

You use this function to define how events affect your sales figures.

You can use the function to create and process events. You can enter general data for the event, classify the event, and find and copy events.

You can assign media issues to the event and display the planned event quantities for the assigned media issues for each of the contract items you processed in the sales quantity plan. The system displays an overview of the absolute and percentage quantity changes for the selected event.

For more information, see Event-Based Sales Quantity Planning .

Prerequisites

You have made the following settings in Customizing for Press Distribution under Start of the navigation path Sales Planning Next navigation step Events End of the navigation path :

  • You have defined number ranges for the events.

  • You have defined the event attributes and their specifications so that you can classify events.

Features

You can create and process events using the following functions:

  • Search

You can use event attributes and media issues as search criteria.

The system lists all the selected events in a hit list. You select an event for processing.

  • Create Event

Choose the symbol with the quick info text Create Event to create events and enter general event data in the Event Header screen area. You can edit event attributes and text information about the event on the Classification and Comment tab.

You can either enter a key for the event yourself or have the system assign one. Define the type of event, according to whether you were aware of it before outbound delivery or whether it occurred afterwards (for example, a snowstorm):

    • Known Before Delivery

    • Known After Delivery

You can assign a media issue to the event when creating and processing events. This has the following effect:

    • You can access an existing event during sales quantity planning for a media issue.

    • You can take the event into account when correcting the sales figures for a media issue.

The following functions are available on the Media Issues tab:

    • Assign Media Issues

Choose the symbol with the quick info text Assign Media Issues . Select one or more media issues and assign them to the event.

    • Remove Issue Assignments

Choose the symbol with the quick info text Remove Issue Assignment to undo assignments.

    • Copy Issues from Template Event

If you did not copy all the media issues that are assigned to the template event when copying the event, you can copy individual media issues from the template event to the target event later on.

  •  Copy Event

You can copy an event to copy increases and reductions for a contract item to a new event (for example, you want the system to process Easter in the current year in the same way as it was processed last year). When copying the event, you specify how the system is to copy the template media issues to the target media issues.

To copy an event, select the template event and then choose the symbol with the quick info text Copy Event. The system lists all the media issues that are assigned to the template event. Select the template media issues and specify the target media issues. The system copies the data from the template event to the target event. In so doing, it copies the contract items from the template media issue to the target media issue, together with the relevant increases and reductions.

You can then edit the event-dependent increases or reductions in the sales quantity plan for each media issue.

  • Display Assigned Contract Items

You can display increases and reductions for each contract item and media issue on the Contracts tab page. You can only enter the increases or reductions for an event in the sales quantity plan. For more information, see Sales Quantity Plan Processing for a Media Issue .
