Plant Assignment for Order Generation
Purpose
The plant assignment can be used to determine the supplying plant for each order item (media issue) flexibly during order generation or when creating an order manually.
The plant assignment in Media Product Sales and Distribution is based on the plant assignment in the standard SAP solution for Sales and Distribution. Additional media-specific determination options have been added so that the logistics procedures specific to publishers are covered here.
You can assign the plant on the following specific levels for plant determination in Media Product Sales and Distribution:
For each media issue and customer

Process Flow
The system processes the following sequence of plant determination levels for each order item during order generation in Media Product Sales and Distribution:

Customer and media issue |
You can use the standard object customer-material info record in plant determination to map exceptional cases in plant determination for certain customers at media issue level. For example, if a plant is overloaded on a particular publication date, you can supply some of your customers from an alternative plant. |

Customer, media product and weekday |
Weekday-specific plant assignment for each media product and customer is specific to Media Product Sales and Distribution. You specify the supplying plant for a specific weekday for each customer and media product. This allows you to have issues of a media product delivered to a customer from an alternative plant on certain weekdays. |

Business partner (ship-to party) |
If the system does not find a plant on one of the plant determination levels, the plant entered in the ship-to party’s master record is used for the order item. |

Media issue |
If the system does not find a plant either on one of the plant determination levels or in the ship-to party’s master record, the plant entered in the media issue master record is used. |
Note
Plant determination for order sub-items (product kit components or inserts in a media issue) takes place from the corresponding main item. Exception : If weekday-specific plant determination is defined for the media issue in the sub-item, the plant is not copied from the main item.
