Media Issue-Specific Plant Determination

Use

You can use this function to determine the supplying plant for each customer and media issue. This allows you to map exceptional situations in plant determination, in addition to the function for weekday-specific plant determination .

Example Example

In weekday-specific plant determination, all weekday editions of a newspaper are delivered from Plant 1, while the more voluminous Saturday edition is delivered to half the customers from Plant 1 and to the other half from Plant 2.

In an exceptional case, the Monday paper is larger than usual, leading to capacity problems at Plant 1. You solve this problem by supplying some of your customers from Plant 2 on this publication day as an exception. You define the alternative plant assignment for these customers and media issues in the customer-material info record.

The system passes through a number of consecutive plant determination levels when determining the supplying plant for each media issue and contract item in Press Distribution . These are described in greater detail under Delivery Network for Media Issues .

Integration

The customer-material info record is an object from the standard SAP solution for Sales and Distribution . The fields Customer , Material , and Plant in the customer-material info records are relevant when mapping media issue-specific plant determination in Media Product Sales and Distribution .

Prerequisites

Plant assignment in the customer-material info record includes the following functions:

  • Editing customer-material info records:

    • Create

    • Change

    • Display

    • Display per material

  • Selection of worklist according to the following criteria:

    • Customer

    • Sales organization

    • Distribution channel

    • Material (only when changing or displaying per material)

  • Mapping of the following information for media issue-specific plant determination in the customer-material info record.

    • Header data

      • Material number of media issue

      • Optional: rounding profile, unit of measure group, language-dependent text

    • Item data (details)

      • Plant

      • Optional: customer material, delivery priority, minimum delivery quantity, control data for partial deliveries, and so on
