Delivery Network for Media Issues

Purpose

You can use the delivery network to determine the supplying plant for each contract item (media issue). The delivery network in Press Distribution is based on the plant assignment in Sales and Distribution (SD).

You can assign the plant on the following levels for plant determination in Press Distribution :

  • For each media issue and customer (standard object customer-material info record )

  • For each weekday, media product, and customer (definition of plant determination specific to Press Distribution )

    Note Note

    The supplying plant determined in the delivery network is used, among other things, for sales and purchase planning in Press Distribution.

Process Flow

The system passes through the following consecutive plant determination levels when determining the supplying plant for each media issue and contract item in Press Distribution :

You can use the standard object customer-material info record in plant determination to map exceptional cases in plant determination for certain customers (ship-to parties) at media issue level.

For example, if a plant is overloaded on a particular publication date, you can supply some of your customers from an alternative plant.

Customer, media product, and weekday

Weekday-specific plant assignment for each media product and customer (ship-to party) is designed specifically for use in Press Distribution . You specify the supplying plant for a specific weekday for each ship-to party and media product.

This allows you to have issues of a media product delivered to a customer from an alternative plant on certain weekdays.

Supplying plant ( SAP Retail )

Supplying plant determination takes place in SAP Retail according to the sequence of priorities of supplying plants.

Business partner (ship-to party)

If the system does not find a plant on one of the specific plant determination levels, the plant entered in the ship-to party’s master record is used for the order item.

Media issue

If the system does not find a plant either on a specific plant determination levels or in the ship-to party’s master record, the plant entered in the media issue master record is used.

You can adjust plant determination as follows using the Business Add-In ISM_SUPPLYNET:

  • Method PLANT_GET_INIT is called before plant determination.

  • Method PLANT_GET_FINAL is called after plant determination.
