Indication of a position as vacant or obsolete.
You can explicitly indicate a position as being vacant. In this case you define the position as being one that is to be staffed by an employee. The position does not have to be unstaffed for you to indicate it as vacant; you can also indicate a staffed position as vacant if it is to be restaffed in the future. The following special conditions apply:
For this, you need to activate the use of this indicator in Customizing for the component Personnel & Organization
, under (switch PPVAC PPVAC
). Otherwise, the system automatically treats unstaffed positions as being vacant.
If you have activated the integration between organizational data and employee data, and also implement the component Recruitment
, the system transfers the data for this infotype to the table T750X
automatically, and in doing so establishes the integration with the component Recruitment
. Now, the system only treats positions as being vacant in the staffing process if this infotype has explicitly indicated them as being vacant.
You can only create a record for this infotype in a period in which the position is not obsolete.
You can explicitly indicate a position as being obsolete. In this case you define that the position is one that is no longer to be staffed. The following special conditions apply:
If an employee is assigned to the position for which you want to set the Obsolete
indicator, the system issues a warning message. However, you can still set the indicator.
If you set the indicator Obsolete
in a period in which the position has already been indicated as being vacant, the system also the vacancy accordingly.
The system checks the component Recruitment
for positions that are indicated as being obsolete so that a new position can be found for the holder of these obsolete positions.
When processing assignments between employees and positions, the system uses the data from this infotype for checks to ensure that consistent data is entered. For this, you need to have activated the integration.
For more information about integration, see Data Model.
You have the following processing options:

Edit
Choose Edit
to change the data of an existing data record.
You can change the content of the data record by adjusting the existing data and leaving the validity period of this data record unchanged.
You can change the validity period of a data record. As a result, the system adjusts the validity periods of other existing data records or automatically creates additional data records to close time gaps.
