Preprinting and Reprinting Maintenance Orders
This function enables you to print shop papers before the maintenance order is released and after it is completed. If you allow shop papers to be preprinted and reprinted by making the appropriate Customizing settings, you can print shop papers for orders that have the status created
or technically completed
, for example. The system status in the order tells you if the shop papers belonging to the maintenance order and operations have been preprinted, printed, or reprinted. This function is available in the SAP GUI transactions. As of SAP enhancement package 6 (SP15) for SAP ERP 6.0, you can also use this function on the SAP Web user interface for Plant Maintenance.
You have activated business function Enterprise Asset Management Part 7 (LOG_EAM_CI_7
).
In Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
under you have allowed preprinting and reprinting by selecting the checkboxes Print Before Release Allowed
and Print After Completion Allowed
:
In the Customizing activity Define Shop Papers, Forms and Output Programs
, you can allow preprinting and reprinting for specific shop papers and order types.
When defining shop papers, you can specify whether preprinting and reprinting are generally allowed in the detail data of each shop paper.

, you can control whether preprinting and reprinting are allowed for a combination of shop paper and order type.
In the Customizing activity Define Printer
in the step User-Specific Print Control

For more information about the Customizing activities, see Settings for Printing Shop Papers.

You can preprint shop papers even if the maintenance order has not been released yet and still has the system status created
, for example. The numbers for the preprints are in the number range 100 to 199.
You can reprint shop papers even if the maintenance order has one of the following system statuses:
Technically completed
Closed
Not completed
Marked for deletion
Deletion indicator set
The numbers for the reprints are in the number range 200 to 255.
During order processing, you can find the printing status in the SAP GUI transactions by choosing . In the table column Printing Status
you can see if the shop papers have been preprinted, printed, or reprinted. In addition, there are new system statuses called PRTB Preprinted (Before Release)
and PRTT Reprinted (After Completion)
. These system statuses are especially important for the SAP Web UI for Plant Maintenance, as they are the only indication of whether an order has been preprinted or reprinted.
