Printing Double-Sided Forms

Use

You want to print double-sided forms (duplex printing). There are several options for printing a double-sided form. These options are described below; which is the best depends on various factors and also on whether the application supports the options.

Features

Setting Using XDC Files

XDC files are printer-specific. This means that duplex printing is done on the printer that is assigned a device type with this XDC file. The whole form is printed double-sided. For more information, see the Adobe Document Services Configuration Guide, section Managing XDC Files.

Setting Using Job Profiles

Job profiles are form-specific. When the form is called at runtime, the job profile is provided that contains the instruction for duplex printing. The whole form is printed double-sided. For more information, see the Adobe Document Services Configuration Guide, sections Managing XDC Files and Job Profiles and Form Interface Parameters of the Application.

Setting Using Adobe LiveCycle Designer

Supported as of NW7.0 SP14 and Adobe LiveCycle Designer from 8.0. At design time, you specify how the form is to be printed at runtime. Within the form, you can define which areas are to be printed one-sided and which are to printed double-sided. However, you cannot change this at runtime. For more information, see the Adobe LiveCycle Designer help.
