Description

This node groups the performance and availability data that relates to the High-speed Messaging Infrastructure (HMI). HMI is the low-level technical layer of the Message TCP technical interface.

This technical layer provides one-to-one, non-blocking, and asynchronous message passing. This layer also offers message acknowledgement and message expiration mechanisms.

The HMI layer is used by the Message TCP technical interface for interprocess communications. The Message TCP technical interface uses other layers for topics and routing mechanism.

The message expiration mechanism guarantees that the message will be replied before the specified timeout duration. The timeout has the following meanings:

  • For incoming message: It is used by the processing part to handle properly any long or blocking processing.
The processing part is an implementation of the request handler.
The timeout handling behavior is on the responsibility of the processing part. There could be no, preemptive, or post handling.
  • For outgoing message: It is used to garbage-collect pending messages. The expired messages are replied and removed from the pending queue.
A message replied in timeout will continue to be processed by its receiver. A response received on such message will be ignored.

Note

There is no metric defined in SAP CC at this level. Consider the subnodes in the metric hierarchy.
