Synchronizing Currency Data from a Back-End System

Prerequisites

Context

In addition to the content available already with your SAP NetWeaver (NW) installation, you can synchronize content from a back-end system. You can then change the content you have and also export it to another SAP NetWeaver system. All the changes you have made are persisted and available after restarting the system.

Procedure

  1. Open SAP NetWeaver Administrator:

http://<hostname>:<port>/nwa and navigate to Start of the navigation pathConfiguration Next navigation step Infrastructure Next navigation step Currency AdministrationEnd of the navigation path.

  2. Open the Synchronization tab page, where you can do the following:
    • New Items

You can configure whether to accept all items coming from the back-end or manually select which items to accept. To do that, select the respective radio button as follows:

      • Accept all new data from back-end database

If you select this option, you do not need to do any additional configuration steps for new items and the New Items step is inactive.

      • Manually select which items to insert

If you select this option, the New Items step is activated. Choose the Next pushbutton and proceed as follows:

        1. In the Currency-Language Combinations table, select the items you want to insert in your local database.

        2. Check the new items to be inserted in the Summary page and choose the Synchronize pushbutton if you want to finish the synchronization.

    • Local Items

You can configure whether to clear completely the local data base before synchronization or manually select which items to delete. You can also configure to either keep or delete local items that do not exist in the back-end database. To do that, select the respective radio button as follows:

      • Clear local database before synchronization

If you select this option, you do not need to do any additional configuration steps or resolve any conflicts. The respective steps are inactive.

      • Keep in local database all data which does not exist in the back-end database

If you select this option, you do not need to maintain further your local items and the Local Items step is inactive.

      • Delete from local database all data which does not exist in the back-end database

If you select this option, you do not need to maintain further your local items and the Local Items step is inactive.

      • Manually select which local items to delete

If you select this option, the Local Items step is activated. Choose the Next pushbutton to navigate to this step and proceed as follows:

        1. In the Currency-Language Combinations table, select the items you want to delete from your local database.

        2. Check the new items to be deleted in the Summary page and choose the Synchronize pushbutton if you want to finish the synchronization

    • Conflicting Items

Depending on your selections about local items and items from the back-end database, certain conflicts may occur between these items. You can configure whether to overwrite the local items with items coming from the back-end database or manually resolve the conflicts. To do that, select the respective radio button as follows:

      • Always overwrite local data with the data coming from the back-end database

If you select this option, you do not need to do any additional conflict resolution steps and the Conflicting Items step is inactive.

      • Manually resolve conflicting items

If you select this option, the Conflicting Items step is activated. Choose the Next pushbutton to navigate to this step and proceed as follows:

        1. In the Conflicting Local and External Currency-Language Combinations table, select the Keep Local or Accept External checkbox for a given item, depending on how you want to resolve the conflict.

        2. Check the new items to be deleted in the Summary page and choose the Synchronize pushbutton if you want to finish the synchronization.
