Administrative Functions for DEMS Objects

Use

As a coordinator, you can use administrative functions to manage DEMS objects. For example, you can monitor the number of DEMS objects in the system, or delete all of the top text objects for a particular combination of source and target language.

Prerequisites

  • The role assigned to your system user includes authorization object S_ADMI_FCD with activity TRNR, or your system user has the authorization profile SAP_ALL.

  • You have generated DEMS objects in the system.

Procedure

To access the administrative functions for DEMS objects, proceed as follows:

  1. Call transaction LXE_MASTER.

  2. Choose Start of the navigation pathDEMS Objects Next navigation step AdministrationEnd of the navigation path.

    The DEMS Objects (Administration) dialog box appears.

The functions in the Object Selection group box are as follows:

Description

Total Number

The total number of DEMS objects in the system.

Selected

The number of DEMS objects currently selected in the DEMS Objects (Administration) dialog box.

Object Name

You can enter a DEMS object name, or just part of a DEMS object name with asterisks, in this field and then choose Select Objects. For example, to select all top text objects for source language enUS target language deDE, enter enUS*TOP*deDE* and choose Select Objects. If the system finds DEMS objects that match these criteria, the number of selected objects is displayed in the Selected field.

Description

When you generate DEMS objects, you can enter a description for them in the optional Description field. If you entered a description, you can use this field to select them.

Display/Change Selection

This function lists all of the selected DEMS objects according to source language. To remove DEMS objects from this list, double-click them so that they are no longer highlighted, then choose Execute to return to the DEMS Objects (Administration) dialog box.

Worklist

This function enables you to process top texts using a temporary worklist.

Delete

With this function you can delete all of the selected DEMS objects.

Delete Target Language

If texts exist in the translation lines of the selected DEMS objects, the target languages of these texts are listed in the Choose Target Languages dialog box when you choose this function. If you then select target languages and choose Execute, the texts are deleted from the translation lines of the selected DEMS objects.

Job Overview

After you have started to generate DEMS objects, you can use this function to monitor the process of the DEMS background jobs.

Import

This button takes you to a report that creates a DEMS object for texts in local text files or the clipboard with a maximum line length of 255 characters. To execute the report, proceed as follows:

  1. Enter the source language of the texts in the Source Language field.

  2. Enter a text string in the Object Name field that will help you recognize the DEMS object later.

  3. You can enter a text in the Description field to document how you created the DEMS object.

  4. Use the input help to specify a domain for the DEMS object.

  5. Select Local File or Clipboard.

  6. Choose Execute.
