Extension Number Protection
Use
Users can maintain the extension number of each work center. The system does not check whether the number is actually that of the telephone belonging to the work center. If users assign themselves the number of a different telephone, calls directed to this number are not put through to their telephones but these users can display the call data on their screens. To prevent users from assigning themselves a sensitive telephone number (that of a superior, for example), administrators can protect extension numbers. This can happen as follows:
-
All extension numbers are allowed. Certain numbers are disallowed for all users, with the exception of certain users.
-
All extension numbers are disallowed. Certain numbers are allowed for specific users.
Process
Extension number protection is defined for each site and then applies to all telephony servers assigned to the site. The standard setting allows all numbers for all users. You can restrict the authorizations by performing the following steps:
|
Step |
Description |
|
Define rule |
Allow or disallow all (other) numbers for all users |
|
Define general exceptions |
Exclude individual numbers from the rule (disallow or allow them for all users) |
|
Define user-specific exceptions |
Allow numbers for certain users only |
SAPphone provides a search function for checking existing extension number protection. This enables the extension number authorizations to be queried for each user or for each telephony server.
