Background documentationABS/MBS: Edit Class Data

The class data of the ABS/MBS plays a central role because, as is the case for all classes, the conditions of the class form the basis for creating cash flows for the related positions. The conditions of the ABS/MBS are the redemption schedules that change continuously over the course of the term of the security, meaning that redemption schedules in the class data constantly need to be adjusted.

You find the class data in the area menu for Treasury and Risk Management under Start of the navigation path Transaction Manager Next navigation step Securities Next navigation step Master Data Next navigation step Class End of the navigation path (transaction FWZZ).

Note Note

Certain changes cannot be made to class data. The system issues a corresponding message.

End of the note.

Over the lifespan of the bond, the data of the redemption schedule changes. When a payment date is reached, you change the factor in accordance with the actual amount of the repayments made and change the factor status from Estimated to Published.

For every change, the system recalculates the subsequent flows.

The special key figures for the CPR/PSA calculation method change over time. You leave unchanged the original values at the time of issue in the general redemption schedule data. The current values are stored in the redemption schedule on the ABS/MBS tab. If you have made changes, you need to regenerate the repayment flows.

Since the cash flows of the positions are generated from the redemption schedules and changes made to the redemption schedules cause changes to be made to the cash flows, the system must ensure that the calculation data for the posted flows remains available in the system. Consequently, performing amortization for a position causes the underlying redemption schedule in the class data to be fixed. This is because amortization is based on the complete cash flow including security payments that are expected to be made in the future and that are derived from this redemption schedule. After this, no further changes can be made to the redemption schedule.

If the values for the redemption schedule of an ABS/MBS subsequently change and the previous redemption schedule is already fixed in the system, you need to create a new redemption schedule. The new redemption schedule is a copy of the previous redemption schedule with the inclusion of the fixed repayments and interest payments.

Make the necessary changes in the new redemption schedule.

In the case of ABS/MBS, it is possible that the issuer makes corrections retrospectively to repayments that have already been made. The system does not actually allow such a change; to allow it, you need make the Customizing setting that allows retrospective changes to repayments.
