Purpose

You can use vehicle meters during loading and delivery confirmation to accurately measure the quantity of product loaded or delivered.

To assign a vehicle meter to a transport unit, you enter the number on the appropriate screen.

Prerequisites

Vehicle meters may only be assigned to the transport unit if the transport unit type selected has load-bearing capacity. Unlike compartments, vehicle meters are independent master data objects within the system. Therefore, vehicle meters must be defined as master data in Bulk Transportation.

Process Flow

The use of vehicle meters in delivery confirmation is not mandatory, and because compartments may be used independent of meters, the process of assigning meters to compartments is not mandatory. Yet the assignment function exists so that you have the option of modeling for situations when product is delivered using a meter. Three basic methods exist for the assignment process, the choice you make depends on the current location within the transaction:

From the compartment creation screen, select a compartment and choose  Goto Meter Assignment . This gives you a list of all meters that are currently assigned to the transport unit.

By choosing a meter, you assign it to the compartment which was selected.

Via the menu, you are able to utilize the simultaneous assignment by numbers screen. This is intended primarily for use during batch input sessions, when the use of checkboxes and pop up windows would be inconvenient.

Any assignment made can be displayed either in the format of meters assigned to compartments or compartments assigned to meters. To do that, from the detail screen for the transport unit, choose:
