Creating a VAS Template

Use

You can create VAS templates from the beginning, or based on existing templates.

You can also create VAS templates as either header templates or subordinate templates.

Subordinate templates are templates that are assigned to other templates as subordinate work items.

Header templates are templates that are directly linked to conditions in a determination record. A header template may or may not have subordinate templates.

When conditions are met, a VAS order is created from the appropriate template. If this template has subordinate templates, VAS orders may also be created for each of these templates. For more information, see VAS Order Creation .

When creating a header template with subordinate templates, you must create each subordinate template before creating the header template.

Prerequisites

You have defined work centers in Customizing for Logistics ExecutionWarehouse ManagementValue-Added ServicesGeneral VAS SettingsDefine VAS Work Centers.

Procedure

Creating a Template From the Beginning

From the SAP Easy Access menu, choose LogisticsLogistics ExecutionInternal Whse ProcessesValue-Added Services (VAS)VAS TemplateCreate.

The Create VAS Template screen appears.

Enter a name for the template and choose Enter .

The Packing Instruction: Components screen appears.

In the Short text field, enter a description of the template.

Follow steps 4-6 described in Create a Packing Instruction in the SAP Library for Handling Unit Management (LO-HU). Note the following:

a. You must enter packaging material (item categoryP) as the first item. If the VAS template does not involve packing, you can subsequently hide this item in step 9 below.

b. Enter the material (item categoryM) that is the subject of VAS as the second item.

c. Enter a text item (item categoryT) and then enter a textual description for the VAS.

Save. The Change VAS Template: (Name of Template) screen appears, displaying the Template tab.

In the External name field, you can enter the description for the template as used by the business partner.

In the Execution Method field, choose the execution method for the template to determine whether any VAS orders based on the template will be executed in a work center or as supplementary VAS during TO execution.

In the Template Sequence field, you enter a number to determine the sequence in which the VAS orders, based on the templates, will be displayed to a worker executing VAS.

Enter a number in this field even if there is not more than one applicable VAS template for the same work center.

In the Instruction Control field, choose the desired level of instruction control:

a. If you want all items entered pursuant to step 4 above to be displayed in the resultant VAS order, and the packing transaction to be called from the order, chooseA (Full packing instruction).

b. If you do not want to display the previously entered packaging material in the resultant VAS order, and there is no need to call the packing transaction from the order, chooseB (Display material and text only).

c. If you only want text instructions to be displayed in the resultant VAS order, chooseC (Display text only).

If the template is a header template with subordinate templates:

a. If you want all VAS orders created as a result of this template to be created for the header template’s work center, select Header Template Work Center .

b. If you want confirmation to be required for each subordinate template, select Sep.Conf.for Subord.Templates .

If you set both of these indicators, VAS orderswill be created for the header and subordinate templates, with each order being created to the header template's work center.

If you set the Header Template Work Center only, one VAS order will be created for the header template, and this VAS order will be created to the header template's work center.

If you set neither indicator, VAS orders will be created for the header and subordinate templates, with each order being created to the work center of its originating template.

If you want to limit the applicability of the template to a specific warehouse, enter the warehouse number in the Warehouse field.

In the Template Rating field, you can enter a number to represent the rating of the VAS template vis-à-vis other VAS templates that may apply in the same set of circumstances.

If an inbound delivery with material A arrives from vendor X, two VAS templates may apply: one involving palletizing by hand and one involving palletizing by machine. The VAS order will be based on the template with the higher rating (with1being the highest).

In the Standard Duration field, you can enter a standard duration for the template. This duration may have the following uses:

Influence the final rating of the VAS template, if you factor it in to VAS template determination using Business Add-InBADI_LXVAS. For more information, see Business Add-Ins .

Reporting. The standard duration can be used for developing reports for management that deal with actual versus planned durations.

If you want to assign one or more work centers to the VAS template:

a. Choose .

b. In the Warehouse field, enter the number of the warehouse in which the work center is located.

c. In the Work Center field, select a work center.

d. If the same VAS will be able to be performed in more than one work center, enter a priority (with1being the highest) for the work center, representing a preference for performing the VAS in this work center relative to the other possible work centers.

e. If you want to enable the work center, select Enable .

f. Repeat steps a-e for each work center that you want to assign to the VAS template.

If you entered a warehouse number pursuant to step 11 above, the system automatically disables any work centers that do not belong to the specific warehouse.

Choose the Business tab. Here you can enter details regarding VAS business partners (third party VAS providers or customers requiring VAS).

Choose the Sub Work Items tab.
